Learning....

I joined Mira M. White's blog. http://miramwhite.blogspot.com/
Check it out.
I took her workshop  at Mendocino Art Center a few years back, and have somehow kept an eye on her since then. I am fascinated by her use of color and texture.
I will try to learn more about things you can do with a blog... still haven't figured out how to put pics up......hmmm. I'll get there.
Oh, Ok...got a picture up from my desktop, not a very good photo, but bear with me. One of my assembage's.

two more shows

Jay and I went to the Triton to see Lou Bermingham's work in the Abstraction show...really enjoyed it, very thoughtfully presented. Jay and I agreed that his piece, Redwood, could be "Sinai", so stark and full of yearning, etc., though very existential, as though Moses himself were up there waiting .....for a sign, searching the heavens....(am I really allowed to say these things? that's the beauty of a blog I guess!) (Don't kill me, Lou!)

Then we went to the Los Gatos Art Museum to see paintings by friends, Nickel Gross and Karen Shroeder, which we enjoyed very much as well as those by Ursula O'Farrell and others in a new juried show. Check it out.

Copper Canyon Press Poetry Reading

Joanna and I made it to Koret Auditiorium  to see (and hear) a great reading put on by Copper Canyon Press. Joe Stroud, Ellen Bass, and others made it a fabulous afternoon of poetry! We cruised briefly through the Asian Art Museum also, which was free(!) since it was the first Sun. of the month. (Gotta remember that tip!) We didn't have time to really do the museum too.

Downtown

Tonight Jay and I will go to Works Gallery downtown to see some of our friends in a show of figurative work that suggests "the beast within!" Looking forward to it!

Next weekend would be a great time to go down and see the jewelry, paintings, etc. being auctioned  at the San Jose Art Museum.
I am  honored to be part of it. My painting, "Sounding", will be up for auction.
Entrance is free, Apr. 25 and 26, 11-5 at the San Jose Art Museum.

Swan Day and studio time

I just wanna say that the SWAN (Support Women Artists Now!) day event at Alameda Art studios was a great time! I loved every minute of it. A thousand thanks to Richard, my friend, who got me down there to exhibit in his studio! I also enjoyed hanging out with Richard and his wild paintings! He's painting a lot now, with assistant, Shannon, as he is recovering from a stroke.

I've been in the studio most of today....working on several small paintings to take to shows. Taking a break to work on SoulCollage cards! I love my new cards! I want to just get cozy with about 8 million magazines and make a bunch of new cards. But  I just varnished a few and now am getting back to painting. I'm using a new product called string gel. It's pretty fun.
