Galleries? Galleries? What galleries?

I am appalled and sad that galleries are so few and far between, in fact where are they?
My husband used to be in numerous craft galleries in the greater bay area, which have dropped like flies, one by one. I miss those....they were such rich visual wonderlands, the mix of functional craft and art, so accessible. The art jewelry, the glass, the pottery! And I miss the galleries of paintings and sculptures. What does it bode for a culture when these businesses can't stay afloat?
My prediction?........... A backlash of demand!! I don't know when, but I think we will yet see a renaissance of crafts to rival the seventies! It's out there....in the future, waiting to feed a soul-starved culture ! And that thought gives me hope.

Axis gallery

Jay and I enjoyed our friend, Richard's, show at the Axis gallery downtown San Jose, a small but elegant space, where drawings and mixed media pieces from his early works were well presented. And they really deserved to be seen! There was one of these blue angels jumping off a train...well you had to see it!
So the gallery is basically a ground floor condo transformed into a gallery, which catches the eye of foot traffic and is just a great location. After the show we went over to the De Anza Hotel for dinner. Without having to get in the car.
OK, I feel another post coming on....but I should make it a separate post. About the demise of galleries.
